Glass Candy

Here is my recipe for Glass Candy for those of you who are interested.

2 cups sugar
2/3 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup water
1 bottle of flavoring
food coloring

Mix sugar, corn syrup and water together over medium heat until dissolved. Bring to a boil and place a candy thermometer in the mix. Add food coloring at 260 degrees. Do not mix in, the boiling process will mix it. Continue with boiling until 300 degrees. Remove from heat, after boiling ceases, add flavoring and stir in. Pour mix onto cookie sheet. Wait until it hardens and break candy in pieces. I use a butter knife or whatever you have to break it with.

Crafting sister

In just a little while, we will have a video of a couple things my sister has made or is in the process of making. She has been in learning mode since day one. She has had a crash course in operating her Cricut Create. She has learned how to cut vinyl. Today she has been playing with our new machine, the Your Story Photo.

So keep checking back and we will have a quick video of some of the things she has worked on today.

My sister is coming to town!

Hey y'all!!

My sister is coming to town. She is my sister who lives in Alabama, and she decided to make a 10 hour journey all the way to Texas for Thanksgiving.

I want to share with you how much the girls in our family like to craft. We have been crafting since I can remember. Anything from crocheting, quilting, painting, sewing and even dabbed in a little pottery making. Of course, the pottery making was my parents thing when I was young. We have some beautiful pieces of pottery my mother made. I remember when I (Kristine) was younger, I wanted soooo bad to paint something she made. So, after lots of begging, my mother finally let me paint a baby doll she made. I loved it.

Anyway, back to what I was getting to...

My sister told my mother she is bringing her baby Cricut on the trip so my mother can show my sister how to "work" it. :) My mother said, "I have mine here, you can just use it". But, my sister said no, she is bringing hers.

Anyway, we are super way excited to have her come in for a whole week. We will definitely have some pictures and videos to post. Our tradition for several years now on Thanksgiving evening, or Friday after Thanksgiving, is to work on some type of craft, whether it be a Santa Claus pillow, a wooden stocking, a yard sign, etc. This year we will be making those ornaments that we saw on My Pink Stamper with the Glue Guy from Beacon Glues. So, thanks for sharing your craft with us.

Y'all have a great crafting day,

Scrapbooking Chicks Video

We came up with the brilliant idea to make up a song to the Gilligans Island Theme Song while at Rivendall. We had so much fun doing the video. Everyone except Gloria sang the song, she took pictures. So I'm sure they will be posted soon also. Hope you enjoy the video. It was a good break from scrappin' for us ladies.

2010 Breast Cancer Awareness Month

My daughters and I went to get nails and this is what I got. I love PINK and I love my nails. I haven't had any in a while and just couldn't take not having any nails. So, I decided to get PINK since this month is Breast Cancer Awareness.

If you have/had anyone who has been affected by any cancer, I encourage you to wear somewhere on you PINK everyday this month: A shirt, shorts, shoes, hairclips, jewelry, etc. Let's remind people everyday what this month represents!

Also, you can make anything...cards, layouts, etc. with PINK somewhere in it and if you want to, email the picture to me, and I'll post it here on our blog for a chance to win a prize. And, if you want to post pictures of what you wear or come up with, just email me at

Texastwirling67@yahoo.com and I'll post it on our blog.

PINK OUT!!!!

Scrapping women at Nellie's Cottage! So fun!

Here we are. Suzanne, Cindy, Tammy, Phylis, Susan, Hazel and Me (kristine)

Nellie's Cottage

Hi everyone!

We are currently scrapping at Nellie's Cottage. We are having so much fun and having a good time being silly.

Hopefully, we will get some video up soon.

If you every want time to scrap, I recommend going somewhere with a bunch of girlfriends and scrap the night, weekend, or day away. Even though we talk alot, we seem to always get sooo much more done. It's funny how that works when you don't have little kiddos asking you to get up and get them a drink, change the tv channel, or anything kids need you for.

Hopefully soon I'll have something up for you whether it's pictures or video.

Keep checking.

Card with envelope

Hi,

I just made a card for my sister who lives in Alabama. I also made a card for her son. But since I just got my Imagine, I was having a brain storm about the envelope. I decided to try and put the envelope onto the Imagine mat and print (not cut) an image from the Imagine More cartridge. It turned out so cute. So here below is what the end product is.

Cricut Imagine!

Oh my goodness!! We are soooo excited! Both myself and my mother has purchased the new Cricut Imagine! We are part of an exclusive Imagine "club". (not really a club, but it sounds good). LOL! We just couldn't pass it up for all you get with the machine.

Included in this purchase: The Cricut Imagine, three Imagine cartridges, the matt, ink, a 12x12 sheet of cardstock and also a printable 12x12 vinyl sheet. This will never, NEVER, be offered as this package again. It is well worth the price of $499.00 free shipping.

We cannot wait to show you all it can do. We have so many projects to come up with to share with you. So please check in often.

I think we need to have a special day every week that focuses on the Cricut Imagine. I think maybe Friday and we can call it Imagine Fabulous Friday.

I'll have to check with my co-blog owner to see what she thinks.

We will let you know when we get the machine in. Can't wait!!!!

Have a great day,

Kristine

Happy Labor Day

Hope to find all of you having a great Labor Day. We have been up in North Texas visiting family and having a blast. Our in-laws own alot of land and the kids have been having a blast with their cousins. They have been riding 4-wheelers and golf carts and playing silly games.

Since I was named "the head of crafts" I showed the girls how to make cards that Hazel cut out with the Cricut. They really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, since I was showing them, there were no pictures taken of them making the cards. Didn't even cross my mind to stop and take any. Oh well, it's alright.

Hope you all have a safe holiday and safe trip back home.

My new ribbon

Hello everyone! I just wanted to take some time out of our holiday weekend to show you what I picked up. We went to Canton in Texas and there is a huge flea market there. Well we went shopping to look around and there was a booth that sold ribbon. All kinds of ribbon. At a very good price. Like $1.25 for 2 yards. Or 3 yards for $1.00 on other ribbons.

Also, while we were there, I decided to get me some custom-fit toe rings. To fun.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend.

What a day!

Well, it has been a crazy day. If you haven't noticed, we have a possible hurricane coming out way. Well, we will be needing to keep an eye on it. So, I cleaned out our trailer so we can go out of town for the holiday and possibly need to evacuate.

Anyway, I made some of those pretty flowers that I made a video on. I put them on a hat and then blinged them out! It turned out soooo cute. I'll have to post a picture when I can.

I just want to tell all of you to have a safe holiday this weekend. We will see you at the other side.

Busy!

Hello everyone!

Thanks for visiting. I have been especially busy this week. I have several deadlines (I guess that's what I can call them) to meet. I have been working on some vinyl projects. I will try and post a few pictures of them on the blog. I want to get enough done first.

Also, I have been getting ready for a family reunion for this next weekend. I have been put in charge of the crafting. So, I have recruited my mom to help me out. She has been preparing a couple of make and takes for the girls to do while at the reunion. She has come over and has been cutting (and sometimes even talking to herself-haha) and organizing everything. I haven't been able to do much of that because I have been working so much on the vinyl projects. So to have her come over my house and help out, I do appreciate it.

Well, I will soon try and post some of my vinyl projects on the blog.

Hope to hear from you soon.

SCAL

Hi everyone!  I'm so excited to share with you that I have purchased (a while back) the SCAL.  I absolutely love it.  I have been having so much fun playing with it.  I have had a couple people wanting a video of how to get images off the internet to use with the SCAL. So, my next post will be a video on that information.  I hope I didn't go too fast in the video but maybe it will get you started in the right direction.

I should have it up by this afternoon.

Thank you,

Birthday Card

This is a card that I made using a stamp from Hobby Lobby.

How It's Done:  I stamped the girl using a stamp I purchased from Hobby Lobby.  I used  Kodak Professional Colored Pencils to color the girl.  I used a Fiskar punch and some flowers.  Not sure what brand the flowers were. The butterfly was one I purchase at Creative Keepsakes Convention in Houston, TX. The words were stamped with Stampin' Up ink Passion Pink.
Thanks for looking!

My youngest grandson is starting public school this year.  I made a card and sent it to him.  They funny thing is he is not starting first grade as I thought.  He will be starting kindergarten. I sent the card anyway.  It will be a memory for him of when Nana forgot what grade he was starting!!

Cupcakes

My husband baked some cupcakes for vacation Bible school.  I decorated the cupcakes.  The theme was "SaddleRidge Ranch."  I used the Cricut cartridge, "Old West" and Cricut cartridge "Cupcake Wrappers."

Here is a group picture of some of the shapes I used.

Cowboy Hat

Saddle

"Roundup"

Rearing Horse

Cowboy Boot

Supplies Used:

 Cartridge: Cricut Old West,
                   Cricut Cupcake Wrappers
Embellishments:  Stickles, Wiggle Eyes(4mm)

 Paper:  Various scraps

 Marker/pens:  LaPlumne II for shading

 Adhesives:  Clear glue dots, Herma

How I did it.  I cut two of each shape needed.  Between the two shapes I used a clear glue dot to adhere a craft stick to  one of the shapes.  I then glued the two shapes together using the Herma adhesive.  I completed the shapes by adding any needed embellishments.  I cut 36 shapes of bulls, hats, saddles, boots, rearing  horses, standing horses, bucking horses, and haybales.

Alternated letters

These initials are for a granddaughter. Her room has a decor of butterflies and flowers. So, these wooden letters were covered with butterfly scrapbook paper. The same items used on the zebra initials below were used on the butterfly initials. Thanks to http://www.karleekrafts.com/ I was able to make these initials for two of my grandaughters.
